campus culture impact--authority

Elizabeth Matthews is the assistant director from Office of International Students andScholars at Michigan State University, said she thinks the reason it’s hard to make friends across different culture is because of the different individual personality.
Matthews encourages the international student to be braver and get ready for their mistakes, especially on the language part. She said being comfortable with mistakes is a part of the process of adapting to the American campus and mistakes are not inevitable.“Be motivated to make it happen….. Be willing to go different events, talk to people and use group work,”said she.
Elizabeth mentioned the coffee hour is the best program for those who want to make across cultural friends.
Coffeehour takes place in the McDonel Hall from 4 pm and 6 pm on every Friday. She said it was a great place to make friends and be involved and start the weekend. The program offers free coffee and open to every students and scholar.

When international students come to American campus, due to the different cultural background, they are facing different problems but a universal one is it’s hard to make  American friends.
Saskia Bauer is an exchange student from Germany. She said it was easy to adapt the American campus as a German. But Qingyang Li, as an Asian international student who majors in advertising, said it's hard to integrate with her classmates in the group work.  She said she did project basically on herself when she studied in her country, but American education focuses more on group work.
Li said she thinks it's lucky for her to get in touch with group work at the college because it's a good way to steel herself. She has to work with others in the future in any case.
However, Bauer and Li have the same difficulty when they are facing the different campus culture.
Even though they both said, American students are very friendly, open-minded and they talk to you first. They think it is difficult to get close or make friends with American students.
Bauer agreed with the opinion that American students care about their private room which makes people hard to get close to them.
Li thinks the biggest barrier for her to make friends with American students is her language. She said she doesn't know what to say to them, and language barrier leads to a result that it's hard to express herself.

video game culture#2 recap

Not all students from Michigan State University believe they can make friends through playing the video game.

Wence Zhang is a junior actuarial science major student, and he usually plays XBox two or three times a week.

Zhang said playing the video game is a way to help him getting rest from heavy study work.

" I think playing game is kind of a release from study. If you don't play very often, i think it's not a bad thing," said he.

But Zhang said he doesn't believe people can make real friends through playing the video game because game friends are not the same as real friends.

"I dont think playing game is a good way to make friends because that kind of friends you only contact them when you play the video game. You may dont contact them in the real life," said he.

"I think we can make friends from playing the video game because friends need to have the same hobby," said he.
Pan is a League Of Legend lover.
He said he played the game since three years ago, and he plays once per day.
